Students develop a beginning conversational level of comprehension and expressive fluency in ASL. Students learn basic ASL vocabulary, grammar, and expressive and receptive skills empowering them to communicate effectively. Students also develop their understanding of Deaf culture. There are no specific prerequisite skills or knowledge levels for students taking this course. Instructors must determine if any programmatic prerequisites are necessary. An intake with each prospective student is required.
