This course prepares students to apply basic daytime makeup. Students will learn how to identify undertones using the colour wheel, select suitable makeup for every complexion, determine various face and eye shapes and use makeup to reshape and contour features accordingly, and select appropriate products for daily cleansing and daytime makeup wear.

Fashion and Photography Makeup Total Hours: 36
With a focus on iconic makeup through the decades and current fashion trends, this course prepares students for makeup application techniques for runway fashion shows and editorial photo shoots. Students learn the effects of lighting on makeup in both colour and black-and-white, and they learn to conceptualize and design creative, iconic, and print-ready makeup looks.

This course prepares students to seek employment as a freelance and retail makeup artist. Students explore topics related to the makeup profession, including customer service and communication skills, product knowledge and care, resume and portfolio development, bridal contracts and price listing, and brand awareness.

This course is designed to give students an introduction to the airbrush, with its mechanical workings and practical use in a professional makeup environment. Students will implement a wide range of looks and techniques such as a classic day look, evening, bridal, and high fashion.

This course introduces students to script analysis, character development and design productions. Students will attain skills and techniques to design and apply a variety of character makeup.

Intro to Film and TV Makeup Total Hours: 36
This course prepares students with background knowledge of the film industry along with technical information about lighting, script analysis, continuity, and roles and responsibilities of a makeup artist. Students will apply various makeup products using techniques suitable for film and television.

MKUP 1109 Credits: 2
Hairstyling for Makeup Artist Total Hours: 36
This course is designed for makeup students and artists. The course introduces hairstyling for bridal looks, special events, and photoshoots. Students will learn about and work with a variety of products and tools used in hairstyling. They will be introduced to a range of skills from straightening to up-dos and will be able to create a range of hair styles to meet their clients’ needs. This course does not teach haircutting techniques or colouring techniques.

MKUP 1110 Credits: 0
Makeup & Hair Indian Bride Total Hours: 24
This three-day workshop will be taught by an industry professional. At the end of the workshop participants will create a full Indian Bridal look, for a photo shoot and will receive four professional photographs for their portfolio. (18 hours) Required: a non-refundable makeup kit which must be purchased prior to start date (credit card only). Additional supplies will be needed and a shopping list will provided on the first day of class. Registration cut-off date is two weeks prior to start date.
